Denji doesn't deserve this. I didn't want Maya hurt, but he's a good kid. Strange, but sweet.

Yeah. I think it's harder for him to express things than other people here, because he has been through a lot.

Nobody would have deserved this, but-- god. It's still a little hard to believe it turned out this way.

He was the most suspicious, because of the goggles - it was hard for me to believe the phone would have been the most important evidence if all it meant was someone other than a Winter committed that murder.

He told me later he knew Maya was guilty, but wouldn't say why.

Maybe he was just... very sure of his theory.

He didn't say sure, he said knew. I don't think so. There's something else there, but he is very upset tonight and I didn't want to push it.

[she just falls quiet, there, though, her thoughts not quite coming across.]

Yeah. [. . .] Whatever it is, I do not intend to hurt him. It disgusts me, the people who are being caught up in this.

...if you're right, then knowing Ichiro-- I think what happened is going to hurt him enough, anyway.

But I feel similarly.
