It could have been nothing. In light of everything else, though, I don't think it should be ruled out completely.

Agreed. Personally, my goal is merely to - narrow down suspects, find out their reasons.

Then we're in agreement on that. The most important thing is to learn why they've acted-- and if they still pose a threat after that, we can find some way to contain them.
