We wound up being teleported into something that was a little like Ichiro's memories. The same sort of circumstances, with illusionary versions of people here who attacked us, and illusionary versions of people we knew from home threatened, and they tried to push us to violence to save those people.
Well, at least the rest of us will be able to keep in mind that it's false, if this is becoming a pattern, but it's still an underhanded tactic to use.
I doubt these places would ever be satisfied to just let you avoid that violence altogether, though, from the looks of things.
I think the throughline in these has been in using illusions of people from here as well as people from home. In mine, I saw Beauregard. She was acting like herself until her eyes turned black and she would start to be cruel.
I can only assume they're trying to hurt people in more ways than just the physical. Sieghart had a theory that these were actually meant to help in some way, in that they got something out of it in the end, but that would be a pretty fucked up way to go about it.
I don't know about help, but I have wondered if the sinister versions of people here aren't meant to point to what is going on on a broader level. The Dorm Heads for example all seem to have had their memories altered; they may be using false names.

[there's a slight delay, here.]
I'm only going to ask you to talk about it if you feel up to it. Otherwise we'll discuss-- anything else, if you need your mind off of it for a while.

Just what happened to all of you?

Maybe it is true of the killings as well?

If that's the case, though, we're being used more than expected.
