That part's weird, too. But I guess if this place is their normal, they wouldn't consider it magic...? It's not like they explained how any of it would work if it wasn't magic.
Sure. Maybe the problem is the word 'magic.' Or maybe there are inconsistencies in what they've been told.
[. . .]
This is a school for people from other worlds, but they all talked about coming from this one. And they were all very vague about it. I asked Luke if he goes home for break, and he never does, because his home is boring and small. No answer on whether he has family. Viola kept mentioning being from the capitol - isn't that a little strange, too? She knows we aren't from here, no name to the city?
Right. And that they apparently don't know certain stuff about this school that they've gone to for years, like how the campus loops us around if we try to walk out...
[ he sighs a bit, aggravated ]
We don't know enough to gauge exactly how much of what they say we can trust, or even how much of it is accurate. But it doesn't help us at all to just dismiss it all as lies.
Agreed. They may be lying brazenly, or they may be missing information. The gaps in their knowledge strike me a little as. . . I don't know. If it isn't an outright deception, then maybe some way of keeping them from questioning inconsistencies. It's been known to happen.
Either way, I am not counting on them being very helpful, but we may as well talk to them while we have the time and see if I'll be proven wrong.
It's a high pressure situation, and I haven't noticed you picking fights. Maybe harder to see how well your efforts trying have paid off than for a stranger to see you with fresh eyes.
... Thanks. [ he does sound sincere if a little awkward ] I've been in a lot of high pressure situations, so maybe I'm just used to it. You kept your cool even when Manwol was yelling at you, too, that first day.
[ he can't even make fun of Caleb for it because of how often he ends up shot at by lasers or something stupid like that, so instead he will go right back to concern: ]

It'd be better if we could see them face to face... Though right now, maybe it's better I can't. It's easier not to lose my patience over text.

[He smiles a little at that.]
Better to try to keep tempers in check. You do well enough at that, though.

Mm, well... I'm trying. It's not like I ever want to fight with people, it just happens.
