No. We will. . . have to change our strategy. Look at suspects more broadly. No longer rule anyone out based on kindness.

We're already accusing each other based on anything that feels right at the time.

Maybe not three minutes before a vote. That could have waited. But otherwise. . . it's better, I think, to have it out in the open and argue about it than voting in secret based on suspicions someone could counter.

I really did think Claude was lying about that potion. Glad I asked about it.

That three minutes call gave me a migraine. [ please. that was too close. but more seriously; ] ... I do think it's better, especially if we're doing it during instead of at the last minute. It just... It's creating infighting, too.

It is. There's no way around it. But fighting is better than running around with our heads cut off.

Rupert was pretty adamant that when he killed Lan Wangji, there wasn't a third set of prints at the scene of the crime.

How can that be. Is he covering for someone?

[ghoststrums]

I don't know. But he seemed genuinely confused about why there had even been a third set, and that it wasn't there when he did it. He remembered them being there last week, though.

. . . Did you get anything from him about why?

No. He gave me a shrug-- I'm pretty sure he couldn't say what happened. Not in details. And I don't think he could confess naturally, either. Not before he was caught.

Hmm. So we will still be guessing, but at least we understand now we can't discount people based on whether or not we like them.

Yeah. [ he tilts his head in thought ] I don't know if there really wasn't a second with him, or if he just couldn't even hint that there was because of that. So it's ... completely up to us to find these people.

What if there was a second with him, but he can't remember it now?

Either way, focusing on that second person is probably no help. Better, if we have to, to focus on what happened to Sieghart.

Yeah. [ he heaves out a sigh, looking to the side ] I have no idea there. Caiman's strong enough, Lucretia had that right, but that singe was definitely from when he got wasted at the formal.

We're one hundred percent certain of that?

I wouldn't rule it out, I just didn't like the idea. . . people who don't know him may have prejudices, think it's better to vote for him than Rupert. Three minutes isn't long enough for a defense.

Well, I have an idea that may rule him out. So I'll talk to him and see.
