I still think Mollymauk was essentially correct about the hint. The people who could have qualified as the adult or mentor in a pair - Lalli, Beauregard, Sagihara, Manwol, Otome, Byleth, and Ichinose. I think; this is perhaps equally as arbitrary as Lalli's age cutoffs, but I'm going based more on personality than age. Adora and Rupert are adults by certain metrics, but I wouldn't consider a pairing between them and any of the children on the list comparable to a mother and baby. Rupert is fairly soft and Adora is fairly naive.
We can rule out Manwol for obvious reasons. I know Beauregard well enough to feel confident ruling her out. Lalli strikes me as overly cautious and not prone to working with an accomplice. So that leaves Sagihara, Otome, Byleth, and Ichinose that I would consider.
If Lila was involved, her accomplice was Sagihara, Lalli, or Beauregard. The others were in the same group as her. Sagihara was injured, but I don't know that that would have stopped him, especially if he had an accomplice. Also, he claimed to only have had earned two vouchers in his entire time here, which strikes me as suspicious. But he probably did not vote for Kaoruko, so if he does not talk to his dorm head or do extra credit, I suppose that tracks.
If Otome, Ichinose, or Byleth were the adult figure in a pair, their partner would likely be Denji, Leo, or perhaps Kaine, but this again stretches the mother and baby goose metaphor for me. So. . . I wound up putting my vote for Denji, because he was the most likely fit to me for a variety of potential killers, and had those suspicious injuries. We do know something was treated in the health center. Between those three ladies, I could not tell you any reason to suspect one over another, except that I'm not sure I can picture Ichinose, ah, biting Lan Wanji's hand. Otome and Byleth are a little more. . . well, anyway. The use of a sword and the mentor metaphor fits Byleth better, the treatment in the health center Otome, save that she may have had her own supplies. And Ichinose's vouchers were accounted for; that thing she bought was pretty expensive, and she was uninjured completely.
However, I cannot shake that on Friday she started sharing her theories with me that the murderers were fulfilling their extra credit and that their goal was winning the Dorm Wars, except when I pointed out we know of no particular prize for winning besides the pocket dimension, she conceded the point. So I had my eye on her during trial, to some degree.
A large number of assumptions are made here, but. . . even so. I would have my eye on a pair of Sagihara and Lila, or Denji and one of those three women.
Sagihara wouldn't be stopped by an injury, no. I think he's proven that-- plenty of times, since he came back, and I don't believe any of us got a good look at his wounds before today. But he's... [she pauses, then exhales a sigh.] He doesn't trust easily. He's asked me how to decide who he can trust, before, we're-- working on that one, so he's similar to Lalli in that way. Friendlier, politer, but he wouldn't need an accomplice or necessarily trust them if he did. The voucher situation also more or less tracks for him, he admitted to me before today that he didn't quite take getting them seriously at first.
...he's also working with me to try to acquire something that could help save people, so I'd like to think he's not out here murdering on the side.
Otome I doubt would have visited the health center if she wanted to lie low, given her occupation, and I think you're right about having her own supplies. The biting is a part of why I suspected Byleth, honestly, Otome mentioned when we were trying to work out the reasoning behind it that Byleth had said she had the urge to bite more or less everyone. Denji, I think we're in agreement on, and Ichinose... she's always been a bit off, when we've spoken.
And then Lila... you saw the way she was reacting, near the end, and we all got a little worked up there but-- it was the way she reacted to Lalli. She immediately insisted that 'that's not right', but was much more hesitant in saying anything else.
Under the logic we're working with here, I know that would likely mean Sagihara too if she was involved, and I don't think that we can rule him out. But I also don't know that either of them would have had a reason to do this on their own.
Personally, I can't see Byleth or Otome as killing remorselessly. But we don't know the reasons the killers have, so I won't rule anyone out on the basis of personality alone.
But it isn't as though Sagihara knew he'd be injured, so. . . little reason for him to bring a child accomplice along.
I agree. There's just no real reason for it, and even if there was some meaning to what Lila said-- it's possible that she just knew something, or was protecting someone.
...Byleth and Denji had the same excuse for the marks on them, as well. She blamed the scuffing on her hands on using tree branches as makeshift weapons to teach swordsmanship with Nier, and Denji claimed his scratches and such were from cutting down trees. Nier's hands didn't match Byleth's, though he did say he largely used his actual weapon instead. It seemed they both had others who could back them up on what they said they'd done, but having proof of those things doesn't mean that's necessarily where the marks actually came from, either.
It could have been nothing. In light of everything else, though, I don't think it should be ruled out completely.
[she pauses a moment, before:]
Even if it doesn't give us much more certainty-- I do think we might have enough of a narrowed field to work with, if we were to continue to look into this.
Then we're in agreement on that. The most important thing is to learn why they've acted-- and if they still pose a threat after that, we can find some way to contain them.

[after a moment:]
There were a few things Lila said that felt... off, but-- I couldn't.
