[How about they just run into one another while on their way to someone else? Caleb is off to one of the other dorms or the cafeteria, but will stop and acknowledge him with a nod if he sees him.]
[THAT WORKS Sakyou can be heading back from the cafeteria because he still has motherhenning to do... Rather, he has more to do now than before considering what a mess half the people he's spoken to are. He has some bread tucked in the crook of one arm and he's carrying an assortment of fast and bland foods in the other since weak guts abound.
He'll return the nod with a polite one of his own, though! And come to a slow, considering his words for a moment.]
...To think it came down to a dog's reaction.
[THERE SURE IS A LOT ABOUT THIS HE DISLIKES. Both the fact that Kaoruko managed to make it almost through the whole day without giving her more obvious wounds away and that it still came down to highly circumstantial evidence.]
[Well that was a shitshow! God bless. He'd probably registered what was happening with the teen herding crew at some point, but his attention had mostly been on the execution as it unfolded and he's bouncing the hell outta there soon after it ends. He's gotta do Sakyou things, it's fine.
But he remembers what he said the other day, and he'll be looking for Caleb soon enough. He finally spots him on his way over toward the bonfire, detouring in his trek to head over. Though he gestures that way, first:]
[Here's Sakyou, vibin by the woods near Spring! Or like, just sort of sitting there grimly because he liked Lan Wangji and he does not like the fact that murders have continued. He's still sliced up a bit, but significantly cleaned up and less rattled-looking compared to yesterday. It's fine.]
...I can't say I was exactly anticipating it to happen on the same day, at the same time.
[He nyoomed after Manwol pretty quickly after trial, so by the time they bump into each other he doesn't look quite as buttfurious as he had at the end, there. He's still just radiating some bad vibes, though, clearly still quite pressed over the way things went. His hand rests on the hilt of his sword, grip white-knuckled, where he... sits honestly probably in front of Spring dorm or around the forests because he's still trying to stay off his legs even though he's Big Mad.]
It is. She clearly hadn't done it, but she offered her name as a choice people could live with more easily, and they jumped at it.
[His demeanor is less angry and more cold, a little hard to read but very different than the usual way he acts, self-assuming and painfully awkward but friendly.
He's probably on his way to see someone else, or do something else, who knows. But he stops anyway.]
[or whatever evening works best BUT AT SOME GENERAL POINT AFTER THE SUN SETS, wherever sweet Caleb is, there's just one tiny lad suddenly bowling into him... It's Sakyou! What a surprise.
His eyes are closed?? That probably explains the crash, at least. He has one hand pressed over an eye as well, and his expression is screwed up like someone dealing with some sort of hellish headache. He barely even seems to notice that he's run into anything, actually, even though he's absolutely looking like he might fall over. His legs are still fucked and Caleb has him beat in height and weight, after all.]
[I didn't realize Sagihara was this tiny, because Caleb is tall but he is so lanky. He probably still overreacts a little to being run into, but he'll awkwardly try to grab him to hold him steady.]
[A LOT'S HAPPENED wow he spent like all morning being big mad about sweet Sieghart in particular, but he also remembers Molly's big mad from the night before... So pretty quickly after he gets some murder deets, he's shifting his focus and making his way out to find the Intrepid Beat Up Squad from Thursday, starting with Caleb. When he spots him somewhere outside in the quad, he approaches somewhat gingerly, looking about as bleak as he feels.]
...I'm sure you've already dealt with plenty of fussing, so I won't add to it. Still... I'm sorry that it had to happen to you. [...] Is there anything I can do?
[Since he sure can't do shit for the dead! But between fellow Escapees Of Hell, it feels like about the only offer he can make.]
[They're both in the void, just vibin. Sakyou seems lowkey mad but he often does, so no real difference there. God.]
It was. No less unpleasant than the last, but... [A beat. It seems terrible to say he's glad things went the way they did, but he kind of is, considering how badly these expulsions tend to go.]
...It seemed he was able to wrest back some control.
[Sakyou's out and about, poking around the Area Formerly Known As Bonfire today! Not that he'll say no to an ice rink (he does not know what the fck an ice rink is), but frigid weather like this is surely the perfect time for a fire? Who the hell's running this school.
He'll bump into Caleb in his new location explorations sooner or later though, inclining his head politely when they meet.]
A few interesting new places this time, wouldn't you say?
[But life can't be nice for like five seconds to these fools, apparently! Shortly after he speaks, a memory bleeds between them.]
[Well, he's going to answer that, continue to make polite conversation, but then he's slapped in the face by this memory. The brutality should stand out, but it doesn't rattle him much. It's more the emotion behind it, the fury and hatred and the quiet appeal to his father.
Still, he doesn't enjoy prying into another person's private moments. His shoulders hunch slightly, as he tenses, doesn't quite make eye contact. But after a moment, his heart still pounding from the feeling of spilling blood and enjoying it, he looks up.]
Ah. . . I'm sorry to have seen that, friend. [. . .] But I get it, you know?
[WELL. As absolutely furious as he is about Molly's death in particular and the mockery of a set of report cards given out once more, he knows that there are others here who are going to be much, much more devastated by it.
Caleb is one of the first people he seeks out, though he has no idea what to say or do in these situations. He's not a naturally comforting person, nor is he good with his words when it really matters. Whenever he spots him, he hesitates, even - almost thinks better of approaching. But approach he does, quiet and cautious.]
[He's out somewhere near the woods, sitting by himself. He has Molly's golden sword with him, apparently. Caleb isn't very good with his words, either, so that doesn't bother him. The impulse to seek him out is enough.]
. . . Company is alright. I don't know if I will be, uh, very good company.
[Well that's! Just!! Hm!!!! That sure did just all happen. When it rains, it really pours, huh?
Sakyou will be looking for both Caleb and Beau after trial as well, because honestly... even if they found the killer, nothing about that felt good. And he imagines it's even worse for the two of them. Whenever he spots Caleb, like an echo of the day before:]
Good company isn't what I'm after. May I join you anyway?
[He nods, grateful for how straightforwardly he said that. It makes it a little easier for him, the acknowledgement that he's just here to be nearby even if Caleb is in an ugly mood.
He's sitting outside on a bench or something, probably.]
[HE'S LOOKING FOR CALEB he's gotta look for Caleb help he's so worried after that display?! Caleb please don't just run off into the forest as a dinosaur he is begging.
ANYWAY. Hopefully he can catch Caleb still as a dinosaur. Does he know what one is yet? Did he ever? A mystery! It's fine.]
[AND THEN THERE'S SAKYOU who's just radiating fury despite his relatively controlled demeanor. He's got some exhaustion and melancholy too, but mostly he's just Big Mad. That's not too different from how he is through most weekends, though.
In any case, when their paths cross in the outside-of-dorms void, he'll just tip his head in gentle greeting that very much offsets his vibes.]
Unsurprising, I suppose... And yet, I'd hoped for a different outcome.
Anyway it's after some snippets of Supernatural have been aired and they're asked to discuss amongst their peers the Obvious Sexual Tension between several named characters that he turns to Caleb. With much emotion (the emotion is just exhaustion):]
To be honest, that dunce cap looks better every week.
[Behind him, two NPCs get into a heated argument while attempting to create a graph comparing character hotness to character omega vibes.]
[i don't trust ANYONE IN THIS HOUSE TO BE ALIVE TOMORROW, SO!! One last pc for the road.. perhaps..... Sakyou's tracking Caleb down at some point while he's having a lucid break in his cheeseburger lamenting! He's still stumbling, though. Wow. Being drunk until Friday night is going to be a wildass experience, hope one of them goes on an investigation.
ANYWAY whenever he finds the lad, he's walking up, gently patting his arm.]
Caleb-- [Everyone loses honorifics when he's drunk...] --Are you healed?
[They're in the void! The void of curses. And their doctor is dead, damn. Sakyou's trying his best to beat the lingering effects, which means wherever he is he's just sitting with his eyes closed. There's a distinctly solemn air, nonetheless - and something a little angry when he notices Caleb nearby.]
...What do you think? Someone who refused to acknowledge the message from the dead? Someone who wished to paint themselves a villain? The story, taking action through another...?
[He's boiling a little, actually, but with Caleb it's always kind of a low simmer until it bursts. The drunkenness makes it more obvious, maybe.]
. . . I have been thinking this over myself. I think the only one who may have had spite for her was Mandricardo, but he doesn't. . . seem to me, to be in the mood of one seeking revenge.
The killer buried her in a grave. A little like leaving flowers behind, as a gesture?
[Sakyou eventually makes his way there, since being outdoors is one of the only things that helps calm him down and boy he's just spent weeks getting progressively angrier and more exhausted! Life.
But he'll swerve from wherever he was going once he spots Caleb, approaching with a little nod of greeting. He doesn't bother asking how Caleb's doing because the answer for everyone is "bad, sir" about it. Instead, somewhat curiously:]
Did you end up needing to have to do what you thought you might?
[The only thing Caleb did that caught his attention was pressing to use the clue hint on Otome, but he didn't think that was unusual, really. Then he lost his mind for half the trial.]
[The small note has a little orange crane folded within! Should he for some reason unfold it at any point, there is a simple phrase written within in Sakyou's handwriting: 幸せになりますように]
Caleb-san,
Speaking with you has always been a centering thing. I feel as though you have a remarkable ability to work through difficult matters with a clear head; something that I have always admired, and something that I would hope to one day be capable of, myself. That is a presence we certainly need here.
Despite knowing only a small portion of your past, as well, I feel as though I would not be alone in saying you deserve the happiness you have found here and now, in the people you care for so deeply. To move forward from a dark and hopeless place is no easy feat; to put your trust and faith in others is a harder one, still. To choose to let vengeance go for the sake of those you love is a strength I do not think I would ever be capable of.
This place is loathsome to take and take in such vicious ways, and you and yours should not suffer for it. I wish that in the future, you should be met with nothing but light when you reach out for it.
I do not know by what means this letter will find your hands, so I do not know that I can be of any help at this point. Still, I will try to do what I am able, til whatever end I meet.
[At some point later in the day, after the Absolute Mania of the early afternoon has worn off, Sakyou can be found at the bonfire! There's the last remnants of paper crackling away in the fire.
Whenever he spots Caleb, though, he'll nod his way.]
That said, because Sakyou is truly a spiteful and rage-filled person at his core, he actually does look better now than he's looked in probably weeks. Terrible! He feels a little guilty about it, and it reflects in his expression for a moment. Still, he answers honestly.]
